The Checklist - Galaga

December 06, 2017 by Lachlan Marnoch in Non-Fiction, The Checklist

Why it's on the list: It's kind of a classic.

How I played it: Through Xbox One as a download.

When I played it: Sometime in the last quarter of 2016.

How far I got:

  • 140/1000 Achievement Points
  • In the actual levels, not very far

What I thought:

Galaga is a very interesting successor to Space Invaders, and a predecessor to just about every vertically-scrolling shooter since. The experience of having your ship kidnapped and brainwashed, then shooting down the kidnapper, winning back the original ship and gaining DOUBLE FIREPOWER is actually really cool. I wanted to keep playing to get better, for more of those sweet, sweet achievement points; but in the end it was too dang hard and just not quite stimulating enough for me.
